The Youth And Their "Paying Intellectualism To Rob Conscience" Syndrome By Adeniyi Muyiwa Sirmayor

I decided to put this up, when the custodians of conscience held me

hostage, until I'm able to meet up with their ransome by making the
essentiality of this piece a reality. In as much I will not want to
generalize my disposition, but the targeted phenomena had well
clinched the whole. However, a country that sees development as a
priority must possess vibrant, intellectual and
"conscience-functioning" youth.  But the reverse is the case in our
dear society.

But, it's quite disturbed, perturbed and unsettled that youths
possessed the former at the expense and detriment of the latter. We
the youth, remain the instruments in the hands of the rogue elite in
exercising their dirty tricks by the exploit of our intellects. Know
fully well that some youths are so blessed with wisdom to the extent
of drawing a similarity between them and "Solomon" of old.

When some youths exhibit their skills in penning down articles, the
reader will be filled with inspiration and spirit than that of Acts of
Apostles and Proverbs respectively. But it's quite unfortunately
unfortunate and a huge blow to the the youths that, we've incautiously
thrown conscience into the league of oblivion and "alienism", where it
appears in a disdained manner to us. Basically, because of what to
benefit from the apostles of evil in positions of authority.

Our intellectual stance had summed up to the level of throwing
tantrums at one another, in defense of our political "gods", who are
deliberately and incautiously mortgaging the future of ours and the
generations unborn.

Oh my youth....

We have heard of several student union leaders in various universities
across the length and breadth of the country, whose major duty is
romance, sing-praise and worship the mischievous and irrational rulers
of ours, in exchange of brown envelopes, at the expense of their
followers (Nigerian students). We have heard of the atrocities that
dine and whine within the apex body to agitate for Nigerian students
(NANS), by turning themselves to political hallelujah boys in exchange
of "kudi", while using that avenue to nurture their political stance.
We have heard of several youth platforms in the past whose ideology
was solely built on deceit.

Where have we (youth) gone wrong?

In a society where intellectualism is rated above conscience by the
youths, then, can the future of such society be entrusted in the hands
the so-called youths?

However, if the socio-political antecedence of the society is to be
written. We will all attest to the fact that, some of our leaders, if
not all, piloted the affairs of the society in their youthful era.
Some are still forces to be reckoned with. Simply because they lost
not their conscience stance totally like ours. Then, what exactly is
our problem?

When I assert "youth", no one is excluded. The last time I checked,
the writer still falls within the league of youth.

The question is, what will the future holds if we (youth) continue in
this manner?

Way Forward:

It's high time we rekindle and resuscitate the conscience stance in
us. The revolutionary train has set its pace. Our availability as a
youth is highly required. The role of the youth towards nation
building must be a thing of optimism cum reality.

The time to demand for a desirous society is here. Here is the time to
take the bull by the horn. Time to make our intellectual stance an
instrumentality to our conscience.

TIME TO RISE.....

Youths are said to be the blocks of every developed nation. Are you
ready to be one? If yes, let your conscience be placed in its right
position, as it takes to effect...

God bless us all...
