The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the crash of the Agusta Westland 101 helicopter recently handed to it by the Presidency.
The Air Force said the crash occurred while the helicopter was taxing after a successful mission.
A statement signed by the spokesperson of the force, Ayodele Famuyiwa, said the incident happened last week on the tarmac at 33 Logistics Group, Makurdi.
The statement also said the “NAF has since set up a board of officers to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the incident”.
It said the seven-man panel is headed by Emmanuel Anebi, an Air Vice Marshal.
It also said the details of the investigation would be communicated to the public once the panel concludes its assignment.
