Tension Rises In Bangladesh As Militants Target (s) Secular Writers, Bloggers


















Secular Writers and Bloggers in Bangladesh a country in South Asia, has accused Some politicians in the country who are doing politics in the name of Islam of exacerbating  tensions in the country by launching an ill-advised manhunt for  Bloggers, Secular Writers, that had secured humanity and secularism in the area.


 Mr. Hasan Shantonu who writes on behalf of humanity, secularism on many newspapers, has also been receiving threats by the so called  Islamic militants. According to him  last year in Bangladesh, the Islamic militants  killed five secular bloggers and writers, and since then he has been thier next target.
Mr. Hasan Shantonu said he has been receiving death threat since  January, 2013, because his first book that was written in Bengali and published that year by Bivash Publications, Dhaka, named ‘Gonomaddhom Nipiron, 1972-2012’ (Media repression-1972-2012). Some politicians in the country who are doing politics in the name of Islam and promiting the Islamic extremist’s, had fund thier faults in my book, he said " for that my book was ‘undeclared banned’ in the ‘Ekhushe Bookfair-2013’ held by Bangla Academy, a Government institutions. The Government's information ministry ‘undeclared banned’ my book. Then I thought, it's normal for any writer! But I’m in danger, when five Bloggers have been killed."

"I want the supreme punishment of war criminals of 1971, during the liberation war of Bangladesh. Besides, I write on behalf of humanity, secularism on many newspapers. For that reason, I'm targeted to the Islamic militants. Last year in Bangladesh, Islamic militants have killed five secular bloggers and writers" he said.
Mr. Hasan Shantonu  received another death threat again on 1 December, 2015. The threat was given through an unknown cell phone number at about 2:00 pm, the mobile number was 01822086820. since then, he has not been able to go to his  office, The Daily Jaijaidin, a bengali newspaper, published from Dhaka.
 "I do not have any security. I'm now waiting to my residence for death. Islamic extremists can kill me any time. Bangladesh is not safe for a secular writer, like us. I'm a Senior Reporter in The Daily Jaijaidin. I've been  involved in  journalism for the last 13 years, he said.
My latest researchable book, titled ‘Sangbadik Bangobondhu’ (Journalist Bangabondhu) which  published in last October, from Dhaka’s Prokriti Publications. Since then, militants have threatened me again. The unknown caller asked me to get ready for death. The extremists also threatend me to go out of the country that i'll still be located 

In the past time, I got threatened. I lodged a General Diary (GD) on 9 march 2015, to my nearest Police Station, Tejgoan Industrial Area Thana, Dhaka, with this connection. I'm seeking security after threatened over the phone, but police has not taken any step for me, he said
Hasan Shantonu writes in many newspapers, blogs that publish from Bangladesh and different countries.   He wrote on 'somewhereinblog' (Bengali) blog.  After killing of secular Blogger Ahmed Razib Haider in 2013, He removed  all his posts just to save his life. He later  opened another account on 'somewhereinblog' in January, 2015. In February, 2015 another secular Blogger Avijit Roy hacked to death. Then He then again removed all his  'sensitive post'  to  save his life.
He also writes on TOI blog. But later ask the Editor Anne Gordon  to remove his posts so he can to live.
