NPFL: Loss of continental ticket painful, says Sunshine’s Media Officer

Wahab Bankole, Media Officer of Sunshine Stars FC, Akure, on Tuesday said missing the continental ticket was the most painful aspect of the 2014/2015 Globacom Premier League season. Bankole said this in Akure on Tuesday during an interview with newsmen.
He expressed regrets that despite the efforts of the management and players of the team in the soccer season, the team could not achieve its goal. Eyimba FC of Aba emerged the Champions of the season and were presented with the trophy on Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
He stated that there were lessons to be learnt from the performance of the team in the just concluded season. “Remember in 2012/2013 season, Sunshine Stars escaped relegation by whiskers. In 2013/2014 season we finished eleventh on the log, and in this just concluded season, we finished sixth.
“By and large, it was an improvement every year. “It was just a disappointment that the team led the log for almost 20 weeks and the desired results could not be achieved, “ he said. Prince Aggrey, Sunshine Stars forward, appealed for fans’ total support for the management and players in next soccer season.
The Super Eagles attacker said loosing at home 2-3 to Nasarawa United was his lowest point in the season. Sunshine Stars finished sixth on the log with 61 points in the 2014/2015 season. Sunshine Stars had emerged as the best team in the first stanza and was also placed first on the log with 36 points from 19 matches.
