The court will rule on two separate appeals filed by the former governorship running mate, James Faleke, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada.
The Supreme Court in Abuja will on Tuesday, September 20, set a precedent as the apex court is due to deliver a judgment in the protracted legal tussle of the Kogi State governorship election.
The case will be a litmus test for the Nigerian judiciary following the circumstances that surrounded the case. The court will rule on two separate appeals filed by the former governorship running mate, James Faleke, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada.
Palpable fear and tension have gripped the various political camps in the State, as the actors are not sure if the outcome will be in their favor.
SaharaReporters gathered that the major political gladiators in the State, including Governor Yahaya Bello, have moved to Abuja ahead of Tuesday’s judgment.
Mr. Faleke, who was the running mate to the late Abubakar Audu in the governorship election of November 21, 2015, had appealed the decision of the Appeal Court, which upheld the election of Mr. Bello.
Ahead of tomorrow's judgment the police in the State have banned all forms of protest and jubilation to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.
The trio of Bello, Faleke and Wada has expressed confidence of victory in the judgment.
