Nigerian Troops Pursue Boko Haram Fighters In Borno

The Nigerian Army has stated that troops belonging to the 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion of 25 Task Force Brigade on Wednesday went after remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in Kumala, Borno State.

In a statement, the military spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed that the troops’ pursuit of the terrorists began after suspected Boko Haram fighters had ambushed soldiers of the 25 Task Force Brigade who were on patrol. He said the troops cleared the ambush, and then went in pursuit of the terrorists along Damboa Road from Kumala.
The spokesman disclosed that the retreating Islamist fighters fell prey to their “evil intents” as one of their vehicles, mounted with an anti-aircraft gun, ran into an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) earlier buried by them. “The vehicle was shredded into pieces by the IED while two of the Boko Haram terrorists died in the process,” said the military spokesman.
Colonel Usman disclosed that the troops seized one general-purpose machine gun, two AK-47 assault rifles and flag one used by the terrorist group. Also, the military recovered six primed IEDs, anti-aircraft gun links and rounds of ammunition, 43 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and a mobile telephone handset.
Regarding the terrorists’ falling prey to an IED planted by them, Colonel Usman said, “the wrath of God has been aroused by the retributive justice against the devilish Boko Haram terrorists.”
